Rocking Chairs Robert Kernohan Furniture
Robert was taught how to make these amazing chairs by Hal Taylor (www.rockingchairs.net)
These are by far Robert's favourite projects. The chairs are in the tradition of the late Sam Maloof. Hal developed the design to incorporate more elaborate arms and flexible backbraces.
Each chair is of museum quality and each has my maker’s mark, date of commission, by whom commissioned, and a verse or quotation of your choice inscribed on the underside of the seat. They can be made in any almost any hardwood of your choice and can be individually tailored to your size.
Other options include choice of contrasting wood on the front or back of the back braces. Number of accent strips in the rockers and shape of the headrest. Each chair takes at least 40 hours and is hand made and finished.
The finishing process takes between 8 and 12 hours. This includes sanding to 2000 grit, oiling, waxing and buffing to a high sheen.
